Physio For Workplace Injuries: Why It’s So Important

Physiotherapist Maidenhead

While some jobs are inherently more dangerous than others (such as roles in sectors like agriculture, manufacturing and construction), accidents in the workplace can happen to anyone, with figures from the Labour Force Survey showing that there were 604,00 self-reported non-fatal injuries sustained at work between 2023/2024.

Common types of accidents include slips, trips and falls, incidents relating to handling, lifting or carrying, being struck by a moving object, acts of violence and falls from height, all of which can lead to serious injuries and chronic physical conditions.

Note, as well, that work-related injuries may not come about because of a specific incident and you can actually develop a musculoskeletal disorder or similar simply just through the act of doing your job, such as lower back pain from sitting or repetitive strain injury from typing.

As such, it’s essential to seek medical advice if you’re concerned about a workplace injury and how it’s affecting you now and how it will affect you in the future.

Physiotherapy can be particularly beneficial if you do have a work-related injury of some kind. Your physio will assess your situation and work closely with you to treat any injuries you have, as well as advising you on how best to prevent old injuries from recurring, or new ones from manifesting as time goes on.

Always pay attention to your body and if something doesn’t feel right, make sure you seek medical advice. It’s possible that your body will feel better after three to five days following an incident, but if after that time you’re still feeling pain, swelling, loss of mobility or discomfort, it could certainly be beneficial to come and see us here at Clear Physio.
