Lewis Hamilton Credits Physio For Recovery

Lewis Hamilton has praised the role of his physiotherapist in supporting him during his successful sporting career and helping him recover from a recent crash.

The Formula-1 champion told the press that his physio, Angela Cullen, is “one of the greatest things that has happened to me in my life”.

During the early years of his race driving career, Hamilton struggled without having a physiotherapist, telling Crash magazine he did not have anyone to help him when small injuries began to crop up or his neck caused him problems.

As a result, the 36-year-old hired Angela and she has been on the road with him since 2016.

Hamilton said: “I actually need a physio that [knows] my body and what it needs to be as best prepared possibly for a race weekend.”

Since then, the physio has been an integral part of Hamilton’s life and career, with the British champion saying she is with him from around 0600 to 2300 every day.

It’s a very, very important role. A very important relationship,” the seven-time F1-winner stated.

This year, Angela has had an even more essential role, after Hamilton collided with Max Verstappen at the Italian Grand Prix.

Using acupuncture, therapy and yoga, she has helped significantly with his recovery.

So much so that just a few weeks after the crash, he took part in Circuit of the Americas last weekend.  Unfortunately for Hamilton, his rival Verstappen won the top spot at the contest.

The Brit placed second, coming in just behind the Red Bull Racing driver.
